About Union Public Service Commission National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination
Eligibility Criteria:
Age: Candidates must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years old.
Educational Qualification: Candidates should have completed 10+2 education or equivalent from a recognized board.
Selection Process:
The selection process for NDA comprises a written examination and an interview process conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
The written exam consists of two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT).
Successful candidates in the written exam are then called for SSB interviews, which include various tests such as psychological tests, group discussions, and personal interviews.
Examination Pattern:
The written exam is conducted twice a year, generally in April and September.
The Mathematics paper is of 300 marks, and the GAT paper is of 600 marks.
Both papers consist of objective-type questions.
The total marks for the written exam are 900.
Training and Course Duration:
Candidates who clear both the written exam and the SSB interview undergo training at the NDA for three years.
The training includes a joint services training academy where cadets of the Army, Navy, and Air Force train together.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must meet certain physical standards to be eligible for selection.
Application Process:
The UPSC NDA exam application process is online, and candidates need to fill out the application form on the official UPSC website.
Nationality:
Candidates must be citizens of India, or subjects of Bhutan, or subjects of Nepal, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962.
